How do I create and use shareable links?
Shareable links can be pasted into any application, such as emails, instant messaging and blog posting to name only a few.
Shareable links give direct access to the files you specify, with no requirement for anyone to create a humyo account.
- Login to the humyo website.
- Select the files or folders that you wish to share.
- Click on the shareable link icon within the 'share on' section in the Sharing panel. A dialog will appear which contains the shareable link.
- Click the ‘Copy Link’ button within the shareable link dialog box.
- Using the ’Paste’ function within your chosen application to insert the shareable link.
For the Pro’s
- Using this method of sharing will mean that anyone with access to the shareable link will be able to view it.
- We will not make the shareable link available to anyone or allow it to be found by search engines, but we cannot control what other people do with a shareable link once you have made it available to them.
- Each shareable link only gives access to the items you have selected. You can get different links for different items and give each of them to different people – a person is limited to view only the items associated to their shareable link.
- You may disable links to a file at any time which will prevent everyone with access to the link who has not been added to the file as a specified person from viewing the file.
- If you wish to restrict access to specific persons only, consider sharing with specific people instead.
- Those following the link can view the file but cannot make changes to it. For collaboration see Teamspaces.
- When you give a link to a folder, any files added to that folder will also be visible to anyone following the shareable link.
- When you move or rename items, any shareable links will become invalid.
- Any media files you link to will be streamed within the humyo Media Player.
- Links to non-media files go directly to the file content. The file will download and opens in the persons’ native application.
- Links to multiple files or whole folders will be presented within the humyo file manager from which files can be viewed or downloaded.
