Why aren't thumbnails of my images/videos showing?
When you first upload an image or a video to your humyo account it may appear on the humyo website with an egg timer icon:

This indicates that our servers are in the process of building the smaller version (thumbnail) of your file for display in the file manager. It does not mean that there is any problem with your data, your file is stored safely and you can download it immediately. We build thumbnails in the background on our backend storage servers so that your upload speeds are not impacted. Thumbnails are normally available within a minute of uploading your file but occassionally you will need to clear your browser cache before you will see them.
If your file appears with a broken question mark icon:

This indicates that our servers tried several times to build the thumbnail for your file but were unable to. This does not necessarily mean that there is a problem with your file, it could just be that the software we use to build thumbnails cannot read your file.
When your file appears as the regular image or video icon:

This means that we've not tried to make a thumbnail for it. It may not be in a format that we support or it may have finished uploading yet.
Tips for advanced users
- We use gearman to manage our asynchronous thumbnail building jobs.
- We use GraphicsMagick to build thumbnails from your image files. If we are unable to build a thumbnail for your image file, it's probably because GraphicsMagick can't open it.
- We use ffmpeg to extract thumbnails and create streams from your video files. If we are unable to build a thumbnail for your video file, it's probably because ffmpeg does not support the codec or format of it.
- Our storage platform replicates many copies of your files onto various storage nodes so that we never loose them. Because we can rebuild thumbnails from the original file at any time, we only store one copy of the built thumbnails. This means that we occasionally loose thumbnail files when a storage node fails, in this case the next time you try to view the image, we'll queue a gearman job to build a new thumbnail from the original. Accordingly, you may occasionally see the egg timer icon even for files that were uploaded a long time ago.
